Staying Alive Foundation is a public charity hosted by MTV Networks.
Twice a year, the Foundation presents the Staying Alive Awards – small grants that support innovative projects in schools, youth centers, and clubs using radio, TV, print, online and personal interactions that reach at-risk youth and protect them from the multiple threats posed by HIV and AIDS.
Since it was established in 2005, the Foundation has made 62 Awards to young people in 28 countries, mostly in the developing world.
The Foundation's mandate to support individuals fighting AIDS on the frontlines is an unusual grant-making strategy that is showing extraordinary results as more and more young Award winners become HIV-prevention leaders in their communities. OUR MISSION

To unlock the potential in young people through discovery and adventure in the wild.

The Outward Bound Trust is an educational charity with a difference. We use the mountains, lakes, rivers and the sea as our classroom. We work with a huge range of young people and help them to develop essential life skills. Participants on an Outward Bound® course work together to overcome a series of challenges – in doing so they develop self-confidence, the ability to take risks and manage decisions, insights into teamwork, improved communication skills and the importance of compassion and tolerance.

Our centres are based in North Wales, the Lake District and the Scottish Highlands and provide the inspiring backdrop to these personal development courses. Outward BoundÒ is about taking people through a transitional time in their lives – whatever their age or whatever stage they’re at. It shows them the meaning of the greatest sentence in the English language: "I can." And it generates memories and experiences that last a lifetime, changing the way people approach and view their life choices and helping them take full responsibility for them.

The Outward Bound Trust is non-profit making, educational charity. Any surplus is ploughed back into the organisation, providing more courses for young people who would otherwise not have the opportunity. It is also completely socially inclusive, accessible to all young people, including those with disability or who experience disadvantage or exclusion. Our Patron is HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, KG KT and our Chairman is HRH The Duke of York, KG KCVO.

The mountains and the sea have provided the outdoor classroom for a million young people to benefit from Outward BoundÒ since its foundation in 1941. Activities such as rafting, hill climbing, sailing and gorge walking have helped us promote healthy living and the benefits of outdoors lifestyle to young people and also try to educate them about the impact that their lifestyle has on the environment.

The organisation has grown over 300% in the last 10 years and in the last three years alone, more than 40,000 young people have taken the challenge. In the next year a further 30,000 will complete the High Challenge Ropes Course, build a raft or abseil for the first time in their lives.  Courses range from 2 day course to the three week Classic course. Courses can be for schools, groups or individuals.

Increased confidence is not the only effect of an Outward BoundÒ course. One of our partners, HSBC, is conducting a study in conjunction with Loughborough University. A significant finding is that 87% of the HSBC-sponsored children participating in the study demonstrated academic improvement following their Outward BoundÒ course.

The first intention of stepUP Foundation is to educate and excite teenagers about the possibilities for their futures in business and in life and to deliver on key outcomes of creating empowerment, self worth, inspiration, renewed strength, tools, strategies and fun.

The second intention of stepUP Foundation is for any adults associated with stepUP such as Foundation Members, Volunteers, Coaches, Speakers, even Suppliers and Sponsors to have breakthroughs in their own lives, create new opportunities for themselves or their businesses, learn new skills, establish new relationships and discover new possibilities professionally and personally.

Lastly, the final and fundamental intention of stepUP Foundation is to contribute to world peace. One person at a time. We do that by having Teens – who are our future leaders (the ones who will determine our future as a nation and a planet, our economic stability, world peace and more in the years to come) realize that someone from different circumstances than their own is really not so different after all, and their job, after having their own lives work, is to make a difference out there.

"If its possible for you, its possible for me, it's just a matter of how!"

The Janki Foundation for Global Health Care

“Values-based care supporting practitioners and patients – putting heart into healing”

The Janki Foundation for Global Health Care is a UK-based charity dedicated to positive human development.  Drawing on research demonstrating that positive states of mind promote health and healing, it has developed a unique personal and team development programme in support of health professionals called ‘Values in Healthcare: a spiritual approach’.

Now being piloted in the UK and some 30 other countries, the programme helps practitioners identify their own core values and shows how such insights complement clinical skill and resources.  When a physician is better able to convey compassion and hope to a patient, for example, subjective wellbeing improves immediately and speed of recovery is likely to be enhanced.

The Foundation also supports the Global Hospital and Research Centre in Mt Abu, Rajasthan, India, an international flagship for integrating the achievements of medical science into a spiritual model of health care that encourages the development of values-based responses to suffering.   The hospital offers free treatment within an impoverished area where there is acute shortage of health care facilities.

THE PPSN COMMUNITY SCHOOL

Positive People with Skills Network (PPSN) was founded by a group of individuals that aim to Educate, Empower and Create Leadership within local communities through a series of initiatives.

The PPSN Community school initiative was created to provide a place where parents and children can go during the school holidays to be exposed to role models in their local community and to learn the skills needed to achieve success outcomes in the attainment of their future goals.

The PPSN Community School mission is to provide ambitious young people with a framework for success in their chosen arena by offering access to experts, life skills and practical experience, which is gained together with elder family members as a means of reinforcement and sustainability.

As well as increasing the visibility of positive community role models amongst family units, we aim to provide young people with the platform to experience living their dream and thus create the possibility that our dreams can be achieved.
